To provide comprehensive affordable, accessible, quality primary health care services to all patients with a focus on education and prevention.
- Outpatient Medical Center, Inc. (OMC) was founded on December 19, 1977. OMC operaties three (3) sites located in Natchitoches, Vernon, and Madison Parish. A ten (10) member Board of Directors governs the organization. The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the daily operations of the Center. The center (OMC-Natchitoches) is located in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Madison Parish (OMC-Tallulah) is located in northeastern Louisiana, the poorest region of the state. Vernon Parish (OMC-Leesville) is in the central-western section of the state.
- Persons below the poverty level in Natchitoches (26.5%), Vernon (15%), and Madison (36.7%) Parishes compared to the state of Louisiana (19.6%) and the USA (12.4%). Female headed households per parish, Natchitoches (17.7%), Vernon (10.7%), and Madison (24.2%). Children in poverty, Natchitoches (32.7%), Vernon (18.6%), and Madison (51.6%) compared to state of Louisiana (26.6%).
- Vernon, Madison and Natchitoches are Health Professional Shortage Areas and have been previously designated as medically underserved areas. Natchitoches and Vernon Parishes are both designated Dental Health Professional Shortage Areas. All of the serviced area parishes are primarily rural areas that lack or have no provisions for public transportation.
- The Health Center's approach to addressing the community and user needs includes the services of General and Family Practice, Pediatricians, Preventative and Restorative Dental Care, Women, Infant and Children (WIC), KIDMED Screening, Immunizations, Family Planning, HIV testing/ education, Nutritional education, counseling, referrals and/or cooperative arrangements with other health and health related providers which is monitored for continuity of care.
